What a Judgment for Possession Means
When a Texas Justice of the Peace court enters a Judgment for Plaintiff in a forcible detainer action, the court awards the landlord possession of the premises and, where pleaded and proven, unpaid rent, court costs, and post-judgment interest. If the tenant fails to vacate within the statutory period, the landlord may request a Writ of Possession, which authorizes the constable to supervise the removal.
